Athene 2.0 has been released today for the Windows platform. New features include audio and music support, faster graphics, more effects and higher stability. The Linux version is also updated, but released as v1.4 (same features but no audio support). Download here.
nice to see that Athene is still making progress. any idea when the linux version will have sound support?
I guess a BeOS version of Athene is too much to ask for so, I won’t

Between 2 and 4 weeks. It’s of top priority.

Hell would have to freeze over… more than once :-). You would be better off building an Athene interface to remind you of BeOS.
Can someone tell me what is this?
A full OS or an environment?
If it is a full OS then why is it “for windows” or “for linux”?
It is a graphical operating environment. Check our archives for more information about Athene.
Thanks.
I just downloaded and tried it.
Looks pretty good
Very responsive.
Its good to see a NZ company doing somthing interesting.
Any chance you’ll be hiring in a year or so when I graduate?
looks like an emulator to me… only that it emulates a virtual machine (like Java?) and that virtual machine is very configurable and hack-albe.
a strange mix between boches and Java?
or am i missing something?
anyway, it looks very nice and it is quite fast.
