The NetBSD release engineering team has announced that the update 3.0.1 of the NetBSD operating system is now available. NetBSD 3.0.1 is the first security/critical update of the NetBSD 3.0 release branch. This represents a selected subset of fixes deemed critical in nature for stability or security reasons. More details are available in the NetBSD 3.0.1 Release Announcement.
Bit late aren’t we? I updated my web server to 3.0.1 two weeks ago.
I dont think it had been released till yesterday. You were probably just using the netbsd-3-0 tag which was on track to 3.0.1
I could be wrong though.

According to netbsd.org the news was posted today.
No doubt. It might have been just posted today, but 3.0.1 has been available for a while.

word.
While the 3.0.1 release has been tagged a few weeks ago already, the official binary sets and ISO’s have only been released recently due to ongoing problems with the NetBSD Foundation’s build cluster. That’s the only reason for the delay. Of course you could have updated your own systems already, as lots of other people (incl. me) have done, too.
I love how a news item gets posted and people imediately start going on and on about how its late. Look, ONE comment saying its late is enough. People will get the point. They do the same thing on digg.
