Micheal Phipps addresses the Haiku Bounties website: I have received some questions about the ‘Haiku Bounties’ website and I wanted to answer them here. It is run by a gentleman who has been a good friend to Haiku for a long time now. I have every confidence that he is trying to do the right thing for the Haiku community and that he will be upfront and honest with the money and that you can trust his word.” Haiku has also hired its 2nd employee.
I thought Axel was no longer a paid developper as the Haiku team could no longer afford him full-time. Anyone know?
Axeld is no longer a paid developer. He was only hired a couple of months the past winter.
So, this means Haiku hired the 2nd developer consecutively. Well, it makes sense, the Haiku people don’t really have the money to have two developers continually working for them.
Still, I see that Haiku is making excellent use of any penny invested in them. That’s encouraging for the givers.
No one, besides Michael Phipps, knows this guy.
I hope he at least worked on Haiku for some time now…
Personally i have nothing against that guy (i don’t know him at all – full neutrality here, for now.
Maybe it’s just because i live in Poland (corruption everywhere), but hiring someone not known to anyone except Mr. Phipps, for money which people donated (so not Mr. Phipps’ money) doesn’t look good.
It’s 2nd case in which i see Mr. Phipps makes not too good decision regarding money donated to Haiku (1st was setting up meeting in USA).
Don’t get me wrong, Mr. Phipps is a nice person, but i think he treats money donated to Haiku too much as his own.
Please keep in mind it’s just what it looks like for a person not knowing “internal” news at all. Maybe if there was more info about it, and why such decision was made (for now we just have “i know him, he’s cool” info)… maybe then it started to look at least a bit better.
