“Silicon Graphics (SGI) and a group of other major players in the computer graphics industry have released the latest specification for the OpenGL application programming interface, OpenGL 1.4. The new version includes a number of improvements designed to better take advantage of the latest 3D graphics hardware.” The news story is at ZDNews, but get the whole picture at OpenGL.org.
I think if the situation getting worst and there no other big company willing to fight, we got no other choice except put more energy on the other open source alternative. Open source community can put more effort to project such as Mesa3D rather than supporting original OpenGL.
Eugenia, how about the issue on W3C? Do you got any latest information?
Is this

what they’re talking about?
Please don’t let M$ to gain more power in the voting board that control OpenGL standard. Just make sure their patent claim just not valid.
And how do you do that? Ms bought a lot of patents from SGI a few months back. They do own a lot of GL patents now.
If there is someone who needs shooting in the leg on this issue is SGI for selling them to the wrong people, not Ms.
Nope, have a look at

Funny, but there doesn’t seem to be any info about 1.4 it on opengl.org.
Re. M$ Worst Tactic; on the ogl message boards, I once asked about why MS is even on the ARB:
