Google has been hit with a €1.49bn (£1.28bn) fine from the EU for blocking rival online search advertisers.
It is the third EU fine for the search and advertising giant in two years.
The case accuses Google of abusing its market dominance by restricting third-party rivals from displaying search ads between 2006 and 2016.
In response, Google changed its AdSense contracts with large third parties, giving them more leeway to display competing search ads.
I’m glad at least someone has the guts to face megacorporations head-on.
Fines and action only comes when the rulers are affected. eMP’s are mad about less access to porn. They would ban ads completely if their porn was behind a paywall.
The EU is the most corrupt entity on earth, and i hope one day for a “fixit” but i might wait in vain.
Chill out pal. They would have fined tumblr first, if porn was what they all had in mind.
Next time, consider thinking “how can this claim be falsified?” before making a claim. Accusing unnamed eMPs with porn obsession is not a very falsifiable argument. And some people (who put a lot of thought in philosophy of science) think non-falsifiable claims are not worth reading, because they are purely a waste of time. Reading your comments makes me agree with those guys even more.
hdjhfds,
You mustn’t expect judgen to use facts and science here.
Corruption Perception Index strongly disagrees with you… That, and the EU is generally one of nicest places to live in (which you enjoy yourself)
The three largest companies in the world is PRC, EU and USA. Perhaps it is time for a breakup.
judgen,
In related news, brexit is just peachy.
About the only way to get some ‘tax’ out of corporations is to fine them.
