fanboy
I think that someone was too quick to mod this comment down. It really raises a valid point. The reviewer is basically saying “The Xbox 360 is definitely worth the money”. He also says near the opening of the review that he made a transatlantic flight to buy the original Xbox.
Transatlantic flight for an Xbox!!!! That’s a huge waste of money.
The article summary should have read:
The big question is whether you should spend your money on a 360, and the simple answer is YES! if you are a huge Xbox fanboy like me. Regular people might be better served by waiting for a PS3 launch to drive prices down or waiting for some compelling game titles to justify the hardware investment.
agreed!
Nah, it’s rubbish obviously because it’s made by Microsoft.
I rather spend my money on PS3
don;t waste all that money (and its a LOT of money) on something thats going to have few games available for it, with no increase in playability, and only slightly better graphics.
the 360 is aimed for those who have more money than sense.

or those with jobs. The Xbox 360 is cheaper than a PC graphics card of equivalent power not to mention all the other parts. How is it wasting money?
if you haven’t already got a console, its a waste of money because many people haven’t got the required hardware and there will be few games available for it for a while.
if you already have a reasonably modern console, its a waste because of the points that i’ve raised – very few games will be available for quite a while, many people haven’t got the required hardware, there is no increase in playability over the previous xbox or ps2, and the graphics are only slightly better in real terms. if you look at the very latest consoles, there isn’t really much that they can add in terms of graphical capability to make the gaming experience any more real.
Sure there is. More detailed textures, HDR, better pixel shading. Little things like that will provide more crisp and realistic graphics, which if used properly, can provide a better gaming experience. There WILL be good games coming out for EVERY system. To think otherwise is pure ignorance.

You have to be very young, and you obviously missed some ages of the video game history. Otherwise I couldn’t explain how you could think that better graphics = better gaming experience. Gameplay doesn’t depend on graphics or presentation, and when the developers spend so much time on the presentation, they have less time to spend on other things.
You must be illiterate, because you obviously missed where I said it CAN provide a better gaming experience IF used properly.
“Unless you’ve been living in a Buddhist Temple in the mountains of Tibet for the past few months you will be well aware that the Xbox 360 has launched in the UK.”
I had no idea that the xbox 360 launched in the uk. Stopped reading after that line.
i didn’t know it had lunched in the uk either.
So, how’s the weather in Tibet? I hear it’s freezing…
Yes, and that’s only for a few months.
no thanx, id rather get a nitendo revolution, much more worth it.
plus u actually get to play FUN GAMES with this console and not overpriced pieces of boring software!!!
Much more worth it, how? All anybody has seen is pictures of the console unit and it’s controller, and all anybody really knows about it is that it will play a bunch of games from the older Nintendo consoles. People have been using emulators to achive the same result for years, Nintendo is just now cashing in on it.
I can’t stand how people keep saying they’ll buy something that isn’t even out yet because it’ll be “much more worth it.” What I can understand, though, is someone saying “I’ll wait until [said product] is out until I decide.”
Well, you only have to look to Nintendo’s DS to see the lone beacon of innovative, fun games (as opposed to the Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2, and PSP which offer very little other than ports or expansion packs to games that were stale a decade ago; even the GameCube isn’t too great in this regard, though still fresher than the rest). It’s likely the Revolution will continue the DS trend.
Another one here, I’d love to try one of those revolutions, if you look at the “development version”, it’s small, slick, sexy… And will probably have nice games, nintendo always made nice games… And this is only the development version on the videos, they said they will make it even smaller (iirc the last pics showed a unit with about the same volume as four DVD covers)
My Xbox 360 is giving me tons of problems e.g. frequent freezing even with the power supply elevated for good air circulation. Overall I am very disappointed with it and will try to return it. I would advise anyone else to save their money and get the PS3.
The box is overheating because it’s not being properly ventelated, get it out of that confined area.
FWIW (and how useful are these anecdotes, anyway?), my 360 experience has been very satisfying here. Opened it up last Friday, went around town renting (almost) every available title, and spent virtually the entire weekend gaming. The racing games are breathtaking, Kameo’s a lot of fun, COD2 is better on 360 than –my– PC, Madden’s probably the most disappointing one of the lot. No heat issues/lockups/etc. I didn’t play any emulated xbox1 games…
The wireless controller feels great and the overall experience is pretty slick (IMO).
I don’t keep my PC updated with the latest-n-greatest, so you may have a valid point in saying “a PC is just as good”. Well, a PC with a later-gen GPU, anyway. My setup doesn’t lend itself well to that, anyway.
Maybe, in some people’s opinion, I had “more money than sense”, but it’s all opinion and judgement calls anyhoo…cheers.
YES! you gotta be kidding me man!
http://www.betanews.com/article/Microsoft_Sued_for_Xbox_360_Problem…
I was lucky enough to get a 360 at launch and I’m loving it. You could have fun for hours without even having a game in. Xbox Live Marketplace is great, you can get demos, trailers and video for free, then purchase some arcade classics and play those. Everything is integrated, and the “blades” are well organized and pretty to the eye. Don’t believe everyone saying their system is overheating either, most of the rumors are false. There’s a 3-5% defect rate, depending on the source you’re reading, which is great for a console consisting of 1700 different parts. Some of the people complaining (generally the ones that say get a PS3 instead) don’t even own a console. I’ve been running this system nonstop watching DVDs, listening to music, and playing games. If anyone should have an issue with overheating I’d probably be me.
Games aren’t bad either. I’ve got Condemned and Perfect Dark. Condemned takes you through these dark trashy buildings. The level of detail is amazing. I’d say close to photorealism. There’s some really scary parts, and you’re really going to have a good time. Perfect Dark, I’m glad to see some of the old classics resurface. This game plays nothing like Halo 2 (thank God), requires skill and tactics. Multiplayer is great, with huge environments, and great lighting. For these games there is a huge graphics upgrade, not “minor.” Check the screenshots out, watch the commercials, you’ll see. Everything has parallax mapping, is dynamically lit, and has great high resolution textures. Last-gen could never do that.
I’m sorry, but I would call any product with a “3-5% defect rate” as utter crap, and I would freak as hell that it breaks as soon as I turn my back. I mean, I would not trust the thing. oh, and cars include a lot of pieces too, and get a much better “defect rate”.
The defect rate is reported as less than 1%, which is better than normal.
Don’t believe everyone saying their system is overheating either, most of the rumors are false. There’s a 3-5% defect rate
Think about this for a sec… they’re saying they sold about 400,000 machines, and even if there’s a “3-5% defect rate” then that means 12,000 to 20,000 faulty machines – that’s a pretty big deal if you ask me and strongly suggests that most of the rumors are NOT false.

Nintendo makes games for 12 year old girls. Nintendogs??? They’ve got to be kidding.
Those games aren’t for twelve year old girls, just probably not for the hardcore gamer. Nintendo is trying to appeal to a wider demographic of casual and non-gamers. And so far, they’ve been very successful at it.
No thanks, I’d rather have a life. I think all three of the next generation consoles suck.
Wow. I actually waded through that. It was written much in the style expected from an overly caffinated PR worker. Seriously, everything was “amazing”, “fantastic”, or “a stroke of genious” and some aspects (the external PSU) makes the reviewers “wife happier!”. It wasn’t until the very last page that gripes were written about.
Oh, and “One of the big selling points of the 360 is the High Definition output, although it will work on a standard TV. That said, if you’re planning on buying an 360 and connecting it up via composite video, you’ll be wasting your money.” This guy must have mad money pouring out of the bank…..I’m not too sure how many people in the mass market currently have an HD capable television set, but I’d wager that most buying this thing are, as the reviewer said, wasting their money.
Really, this article reads more as a promo-pamphlet than a review. Come on Register….your usually MUCH better than that.
When the PS3 is released (next flavor of the month), snag yourself a PS2, Xbox (original), or Gamecube (if you don’t have any of these already), and all the used games you want. The games that will be released on the flavor of the month consoles will be pretty much the same as the used ones you’ll buy, only with better graphics. Sure, the flavor of the month games will look better, but you’ll save a ton of cash, and you’ll still have the same games.
The sad thing is that there is still so much life left with current-gen consoles .. there’s all kinds of potential to make great games on these machines. But hey, we gotta update the graphics. As the guy from Epic said, it’s all about graphics. And it’s gonna suck when the graphics get photo-realistic and they can’t improve them anymore; all these game companies are gonna go belly-up because they wouldn’t know how to make innovative games if it bit ’em on the ass.
BTW: Do you know that some people are predicting that we’re headed for a second video game crash?
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=27976
Maybe people will get smart and start demanding something other than last year’s game for $60. But I’m sure that won’t happen – they’ll be too busy looking for new faceplates for their Xbox 360. You know, the important stuff.
In that case, why not just buy a PSX, or even just an SNES? I mean, gameplay was great on a lot of games on those systems, so why upgrade just for graphics?
Here’s a clue: Better graphics can provide a more immersed experience. Slightly better graphics may not be worth it, but once the games come out to actually exploit the hardwares potentially, it certainly won’t be just “slightly” better graphics.

Well, anything less powerful than the PS2 generation, the games will be a little harder to find, especially when the PS3 is released. Besides, anything less powerful than the PS2 generation can be doing via emulation.

I dunno about that. There weren’t too many games in the last 5 years that I hadn’t felt like I’d played many times before. And is better graphics really worth $60+ a hit? I mean, how many times can you play Ridge Racer, Need for Speed, Tony Hawk, Madden, etc before you say enough is enough?
If you couldn’t find games that felt “new”, then you didn’t look very hard. Don’t blame the console that you played rehashed games.
But to answer your question, no, games are not worth $60. At least, they rarely are. Nor was NHL96 worth $70 when it came out. But meh, not much we can do about that :/
There are already lawsuits because XBox crashes and overheats.
Reading about all these people having overheating/crashing problems and no HD support … thanks but no thanks … I’ll just wait for the PS3.
I find it funny when people talk marvels about a product they hardly even know, no one knows FOR SURE what the PS3 or the Revolution will bring to the games.
So when PS3 comes loaded with DRM, will they wait for Revolution? Which will come with Mario Revolution, Zelda 186 and the usual boring stuff…
I will just better wait until the consoles offer games that really entertain me and make me think, not madden 2009 and Super Mario 18.
Obviously you haven’t watched Sony’s E3 PS3 demo. Some of the stuff they showed was incredible.
Also, I’m sure the Xbox has at least greater or an equal amount of DRM built in than the PS3. PS3 will also have a better selection of games, like MGS4, Tekken, Killzone, and of course, Unreal Engine 3!
None of it was incredible gameplay-wise, they were just pretty looking. At that, they weren’t rendered realtime, despite Sony’s claims to the contrary.
I’m not even commenting on the “games” you pointed out.
The first thing I thought when I saw an ad for the new XBox was how cheap it was. I don’t get why some people think it’s expensive? Compared to other hardware it’s a steal. Heck, I just spent the same amount of money on a simple firewire audio interface (which is basically useless without spending tons of money on other things).
If you want a cheaper console just buy the PS2, Xbox och gamecube.
I think most of the games are rather expensive though considering that I grow tired of them after a fairly short time. I find few so called “modern games” worth the money, but to some they might be.
I won’t spend any money on neither the Xbox 360 nor the PS3, but I sure wouldn’t call them expensive or a waste of money if you are into those kinds of games available for them.

If you’re a sucker that is. Which seems to be the case with the majority of PC Gamers, who also seem to be the ones advocating that people should be dumb enough to run out and dump $500 on a Xbox 360.
You mean $400 for the premium bundle, right?
I won’t buy a Xbox 360 until there is a modchip for it.. The original xbox sucked until it was able to be modded and then it was awesome, the media center capabilities with a modded Xbox are the same if not better than xbox 360s.
I know a couple people who are high up in Blockbuster and they have been told not to expect renting PS3 games at all. The PS3 game disk, upon first use in a PS3, will be written on so it will be “encoded” to that PS3 unit… forever. no more buying used games, no more renting games, no more trading games. SOny wants ALL people to buy new copies and lock out the used market for good.
If this is true…. DEATH to SONY. IMHO……..
@embleau The PS3 games being locked to one PS3 rumour has been well and truely debunked by Sony themselves.
Here the firsdt link I could find, somehow it didn’t get the same amount of ‘web space’ the original rurmour got.
http://www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000213068073/
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u…
So it’s not really a rumor….
People will have a lot of unpleasant surprises with the PS3…
That is a patent, it is not a press release from Sony saying ‘we are killing the second hand market by using one disk on Console DRM’.
Perhaps you should read the link in the parent to your reply. It is reporting that Sony has saidthe stories about killing the second hand market using DRM are total FUD.
Out of the ~15 reviews I have skimmed through almost all of the reviewers were equally unimpressed by the Xbox. I think you managed to find and post the first good review I have seen of the 360.
If I had to pick one good article that nails it I would pick this one: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=27976
Also, most of the 18 360 titles are also out for PC and PS2 as well. I tried the PC demo Call of Duty 2 and Need for Speed, Call of Duty is “same game, different map” and Need for Speed was so dull I could not wait for the demo to end.
The only bright side of the 360 I have seen so far is the ability to download and play arcade games and demos through Xbox live.
I read one review that summed it up pretty well: ~”I can’t believe I just spent over a thousand dollars on hardware only to be excited about playing an old arcade game”

I just farted and it smelled REALLY bad makes your eyes water.
PC gamer for life baby. Ditch the child’s toy and get a real gaming machine. If you can afford an Xbox, you can afford a high end video card.
The PC is only a niche console. It makes the even the GameCube’s US market share look enormous in comparison. And if you want anything but yet another FPS or RTS expansion pack, you’re out of luck.
Well I hope certainly not. There are countless people whom I am dearly thankful that are console gamers only and not PC gamers. Why, you may ask? Because many of these people are as computer-literate as my neighbors dog and I, for one, am estatic that they are not poisoning the Internet with what would be their expensive gaming computers turned spam and virus zombies.
Point being, if your’e a computer guy, then sure, PC gaming is the way to go. If not, stick to your consoles please.
To all those saying that we haven’t taken full advantage of current gen: CPU wise this is somewhat true, as long as there are not too many characters on a screen at a time, this is true (this gets tuff in sports games where it is common to have 20 guys on the screen). But 32MB memory on the PS2 make it hell to develop for compared to XBox. Developers developing for multiple consoles usually develop to the lowest marketable platform. (marketable excludes gamecube, sorry but its true). While developers could crank stuff up for xbox, and tone it down for PS2, it is much easier (thus cheaper) for developers to use as much _common_ data and code as possible. That is why the XBox exclusive titles generally look better than games available for PS2 and XBox (not always true, depends on the depth of the developer’s pockets). Both titles we are currently working on look way better on XBox than PS2, and we haven’t really done anything XBox specific with our data or code, just taking advantage of hardware features on both boxes.
To you who say PC gaming is best: A 360 costs what a hi-end graphics card costs. True. But a 360 will play all the games for the next 5 years. You will have to upgrade your graphics card once a year. Plus you have to run windows.
I own a Playstation 2, revision 7. I believe it took 4 revisions for Sony to get it right and work the bugs out of the DVD drive. It’s not a surprise people are having a problem with the first release of the Xbox 360. So what will these people do? Probably buy yet another one in a year. Yah, I’m aware it means they’ll get a year’s worth of playing games that I didn’t have with the PS2, but then, I only had to purchase one.
i am happy with my SNES.. no need to upgrade yet

1. You have a 52″ DLP HDTV
2. You have a 800 watt home theater system attached to your 52″ HDTV
3. You have a home computer network, preferably wireless
4. You want to use your game console as a media center which connects to your computer, 52″ HDTV, and 800 watt home theater system via your home network
5. You have an ipod or palm pilot that you’d like to use to stream media through your next-gen console, which displays great on your 52″ HDTV and sounds beautiful coming through that 800 watt home theater system
6. You have the money to burn so go do it
Taking full advantage of the next generation consoles will cost you much more than you think.
The other day my fiancee’s three boys got NFS:Most Wanted, Mercenaries and, um, NFS:Underground 3 Dub Edition(?) for the PS2. My Fiancee got an Atari Flashback 2.
The kids all sit around the Flashback saying, “This sucks!” or “You call these graphics?” Yet, they keep plugging away at Pitfall and Haunted House.
My favorite verbal exchange so far went like this:
“I can’t jump over that rat.”
“That’s not a rat; it’s a scorpion.”
“You’re kidding?”
This holiday season, my girlfriend wanted to know what I wanted for Christmas. I decided to go towards a new video game system, since we were getting tired of PS2 and our old SNES.
I myself had preordered a Xbox360 base system, for $299 and picked it up the day of release, only to put it on eBay the same night and get $614 for it (some xmas spending money)
Anyway, I bought the Xbox360 for the profit, not for games. In contrast, I am getting a Gamecube bundle (for Christmas, of course for less than $100 that has;
the system, its hookups, two controllers, (since when did a system come with two controllers? not since the 16 bit days!) a microphone, and the new Mario Party game. She also picked up a few of the fantastic 1st party titles that were in the players choice ($20).
In the end, on Christmas we are going to have a wonderful time, because we won’t be sharing a single controller, and we are going to actually have some fun games to play with.
Sure, the Xbox360 has its fans, but I know I can’t be one. I bought an Xbox360 with the intention of earning a profit, which I did. I don’t have $400 to buy a complete console, another $60 just for a game, and finally a staggering $50 so a friend can play. That is a lot of money, especially when you have to worry about whether or not the system is going to crash or not.
In the end, sure the Xbox 360 is great if you are a big fan, with a lot of money, but the $99 GameCube bundle is one hell of a deal.
I pre-ordered 2 premium setups. One I kept and one I sold on ebay for $830. My 360 cost me nothing and I actually made a little gas money profit.
Nintendo should have had bundles like this all along.
I find the bashers here just amazing. WTF!?! is wrong with you people? Then again, these forums tend to be the center of all negativity.
There seems to be 3 camps here. One group that are Sony PS3 fans and are waiting for that disaster. Another group that can’t afford the finer things in life and therefore must project their angst and bash the 360…and the PS3 when it comes out. To those folks I say STFU, we aren’t interested in your money problems. And finally there are those of us that own the 360 and absolutely love it.

Ah yes, the xbox 360… the finer things in life… while you busy yourself looking down your nose others, feel free to ignore others of the same inclination looking down their noses at you… the finer things in life… ignorance, apparently, can indeed be bliss…
When are they going to start concentrating on gameplay instead of just pumping out better graphics?
It doesn’t matter what latest RPG I play, they all still don’t hold a candle to Ultima V. How realistic is it to go to a given location and have the same person just always standing there 24×7? Come on developers! Wake up!
Another example – Doom 3 – pretty graphics but stupid gameplay. Ok I’m going to open this door, and oh surprise there’s a monster behind it! What innovation!
Half-Life 2 is probably one of the few (only?) modern games that seem to have gotten it right.
that’s what I liked about Shenmue. you’d talk to someone somewhere and then later see them out running errands or something. or you’d go to see someone and they’d be out.
Consoles are lame.
I’ll take a PC any day over a console simply for the fact that I can upgrade.
When have you had the chance to swap out your video card on your xbox for the latest and greatest?
When have you had the chance to swap out your video card on your xbox for the latest and greatest?
That is part of the point of consoles for the less PC-savvy.
No drivers to download or update.
No DirectX to update.
No Windows vulnerabilities/spyware/adware to affect system performance.
No need for an additional TV (which is what a PC monitor really is, heh.)
And so on. I probably could go on, but you get the point, I guess. Of course, PCs have a broader range of uses. It’s all up to the user-buyer to determine what’s best for him.
I love playing games on 17″ screens !
“I’ll take a PC any day over a console simply for the fact that I can upgrade. ”
All the upgrading in the world won’t get you as good RPG or shoot’em’up (no, not FPS) titles on your PC as on the consoles. Sure, PC is best for titles such as Age of Empires 3, Homeworld 2 and Quake 4 but that’s about it. All other types of games are better on consoles (And yes, I _do_ have a ATI X850 XT PE and high-end PC).

This is so subjective it’s almost worthless. RPG for instance, in my opinion the only true great RPG are on PC, I am yet to wait for a reall good RPG on console (Oblivion might be the first, if I don’t count the Morrowind *port* on the original X-Box).
As I see it, opnly platformers and sport games are better on consoles. *All* other genre are better on PC.
Still, my opinion is as worthless to you as yours to me. Just get what you need, I’ll do the same myself.
Everyone is raving about the media features of the Xbox360, but you NEED Windows Media Center Edition to make it work 100%. Mod a xbox with a X3 CE chip… and use Xbox Media Center (XBMC) and you can stream media from ANY smb source on ANY OS…. Plus stream online content from sites like Quicktime Trailers and other video sites (ifilms, Consumption Junct., Launch).. to your xbox and to your TV… Much more flexible that dropping 400$ for a 360 and then more to either buy a Media center computer or buy an OEM copy of Media Center Edition just to do almost the same on the 360 but still not as flexible.
Edited 2005-12-06 18:14
All I personally need for my gaming needs are my PC, and my PSP when on the go. But, I agree that the 360 is one heck of a great console. Many of my collegues owns it, and I was blown away by the quality of the first gen titles already. I can only imagine the next wave.
Funny how some people here on the forum can wipe out any form of logic just to be against MS. 🙂
Oh and I forgot the fighting games (better on consoles). But as I don’t care about either fighting or sport games, only platformers are of interest to me.
Well I don’t want to be boring but 400$ for the consol and another 60$ for the games no thanks I think I stay at the “old” consols some more time. Or buy myself an handheld.
I mean what new does it bring to me which doesn’t have an HD-tv?
Sure. You get that brand new game you’ve been eyeing. Then you hope your video card is good enough, and if not, you shell out a hundred or more to get even a lowend one. Then you get the first patch. Then you get the second patch to fix the errors in the first patch. Then…then you wonder why you even do PC gaming, especially when most people have bigger TVs than computer monitors anyway.
Like there were no crappy games back in the day. Please. There’s a better variety of games out there now then ever before in history, and yet we hear more griping than ever before. Is it not likely that people are basically spoiled now, and nothing is ever good enough these days? That back in the day, people were basically grateful for whatever games were put out, while now they have these gradiose expectations? When virtual reality finally gets here, people will already be criticizing it for its shoddy writing, acting, directing etc. Maybe a mandatory sentence of ten years playing only Pong would bring people back to their senses.
People hear that some XBOX 360 are crashing and so they assume EVERY machine sold crashes. Why are people so stupid
More than that.
Others are saying they’d prefer a PS3 without the console even being available yet.
Others don’t like it because it’s made by Microsoft.
Others just don’t like consoles because they prefer their PCs (valid reason but so what).
Others think it’s too expensive (valid again but, again so what).
At the end of the day I don’t care who makes it, I don’t care what super chips it’s running, I just care if the games are good. If they are then great. I have the original Xbox. I’ve played it to bits (and still do) but one of the most played games with mates is Super Bomberman 3 on the SNES emulator on it (it’s modded). That’s a 10 year old game. The graphics are crap but the game is great fun. But that’s just me. If the PS3 is better for me I’ll buy it, if the Xbox360 is better I’ll buy that. The only way to find out is to play the games.
I’m wanting to buy a HDTV specifically for XBOX 360 when it launches here in Australia March 2,2006
Any recommendations anyone from experience thus far?
XBOX 360 is good overall particularly for gamers and the HDTV industry. 😉
The 360 runs q4 and call of duty better than a graphics card worth the same price.
Games are expensive.. only if you pay for them.. which you guys obviously dont because you warez all your pc games.. which makes the games more expensive no?
Xbox live is sooo much better than pc gaming online in about 10 respects from less cheating and prats to lower ping times and reliable clear voice.
The xbox actually plays games at a nice frame rate.. my xbox plays most games at 60 fps.. yet bf 1942 cant even run close to that on my pc.. bf2 runs at < 10 fps with everything on minimum (AMD 64 bit 3000+ with rad 9200). Im sorry if i dont want to spend 300$ US plus just to play games for 6 months.. you guys can but dont make out im the idiot wasting money.. its the people who pay hundreds for graphics cards each 6 months and dont understand the difference between av frame rate (oftern 60.0000 on xbox).. and max frame rate.
Hl2 and so many games are CRAP on my pc.. yet its similar power to the xbox gpu.. and my cpu kicks the xbox to the moon and back.. yet frame rates are so bad on pc! Frames drop all over the place because of AGP transfers etc.
PC gamers are living in a dream world pretending their precious pcs run games better.
Min and Average frame rate are the most improtant (not max frame rate).. and xbox rocks all over pc for that.. why not go compare q4 and call of duty 2 between the 360 ports and how much a graphics card costs to do that..
Im ordering my 360 very soon.. where u ordering yours anon aussie?

Don’t compare apples to oranges (is there a non-fruit). You state bf2 as the example for PC’s, yet you don’t specifically compare that to any game on the xbox (the non-fruit). Compare the same game at the same resolution before making any conclusions.
Also, there is much more choice on the PC for what hardware to get. You are not compelled to buy a 300.00 dollar graphics card. It’s your choice. You can buy one for 150 and do just fine for quite a while. If you are compelled to turn up every feature to the max, then you have to pay. In fact, is this not the main reason for getting an xbox360…that the graphics are spectacular? It’s the same story in the consoles these days…you want more eye candy, you have to pay more…only this time, Microsoft is at the controls, not nvidia/ati.
I’m waiting for the PS3.
LOL what a lame zealot…shove that PS3 up your ass you f–kin japanese asshole…
ran into problems of people not removing all of the packaging from the system.. there is to be NO plastic covering the actual system.. other than the face plate and outer skin…
so remove the shipping wrap from the intake.. and then talk about “overheats”
sure the powersupply is a shitty design, but when I get Unix or BSD to run on it… I will have a “tri-core” media server 😉
PS3 is the biggest hyped piece of crap.. they have a long way to go before it is playable for long periods (read as 1 hour +)
Revolution is the Shit when it comes to next-gens.. and I like the lack of Hype … nintendo has not ever steered me wrong.. only the game publishers

classic fun…w/o blowing the cartridges
To start, I’ll say I like all consoles both new and old (including the PC for emulation). And let me say, each of the upcoming systems has given me reason to be wowed over their technology and final results.
Now let me say that because funds are tight, I am only going to get the PS3 because it has most of the titles I like and a featureset that I find to be most balanced. This is not to say the others are inferior, it’s just that their particular configuration doesn’t give me enough incentive to buy them currently.
However, I have a deal worked out with the other guys on my dorm floor. Each one of them have particular game preferences that have them rooting for different consoles. I convinced them to let me hook their systems up to my big TV to pool our limited game resources. As a result, we each get to sample the various game systems that we are not completely invested in, but are still curious about.
I will definitely buy a Revolution.
I’ll probably never get an Xbox 360.
I’ll probably get a PS3 if just to quench my RPG cravings.
…how the Nintendo fanatics show up out of the woodwork. It’s like you died and woke up in an episode of Sesame Street.
agreed… not much info on the revolution..yet its already thrown on a pedestal, I honestly most likely get it when it ever does come out because i love nintendo, but i dont need to tout a pretty much unknown system..and I really hope the controller they shown for it, is an option controller and not the main one.because it must have been hard to beat the colecovision controller for worst controller ever.
From the article: “I get the feeling that if Apple had wanted to produce a gaming console, it would have looked something like this.”
…Jonathan Ive just threw up in his mouth a little.
all the hype surrounding the xbox is too much fo me frankly speaking it is good old gameplay rather than the graphics which actually leads to gr8 games so i dont think better graphics will help the x box360 outsell the upcoming ps3 which will definitely have better titles . also i hope some of you can answer my question :- i live in india so if i purchase an xbox 360 will i be able 2 access x box live service and if so how?
