Red Hat is shying away from taking “control” of its relationship with customers and instead hopes to become a thought leader that champions innovation through freedom of the community. Matthew Szulik, Red Hat chief executive, chairman and president, said Wednesday it was wrong to think companies like Red Hat could control what the open source community builds and that it’s important to stay true to the premise of the Gnu General Public License.
“”The desktop has become a lot like teenage sex: a lot of people are talking about it but not many people are doing it,” Szulik said.”
He obviously hasn’t been to the UK. Teenagers here don’t
have time to talk about sex, they are too busy doing it.
Aye, times have changed a bit since that fossil hit puberty. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2…
They are basing their studies on SURVEYS. I can tell you right off, what teenagers SAY and what they DO are completely different things. Boys in particular brag a lot, but 99% of it is just talk.My entire time in high-school, I only knew a handfull of people who had actually had sex. Most were still trying to get to second base (without luck). I think what he said was completely accurate.
The article you link even says they have no prove that “rainbow parties” occur. They also mention that the “study” (if you can call it that) was based on 1-hour surveys of only 2500 people who may or may not have even been teenagers. 2500 out of millions proves nothing at all other than of those 2500, half like to talk big.
So they pull the rug out from under the redhat community and go commercial but are now all about the new beta only fedora community. Don’t be a sheep, go debian.
I was waiting for someone to come out of the woodwork and say Redhat sux0rz use my distro!
Some of you people have a sickness. I hope you understand that. Windows and linux have huge differences so I can see trying to get ppl to switch to one or the other in a way. but to spend all day putting down a linux distro that put a darn good chunk of code in your favorite distro is just retarded.
The funny thing about the title for those here who’ve been around awhile. They should remember when some accussed RH of the same thing. Not true of course, but it’s interesting nevertheless.
