Yes, Sandwich Boy, it was funny. Along with all the other things that were promised us.
they forgot, like they made it and everything, then someone sat it on a desk and went to lunch and forgot about it
at least java2 personal edition was included in beia
flo
But just how far did the BeOS port go?
It seems they had gone pretty far on a 1.3 port.
See this: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/api/javax/swing/filechooser/FileS…
I thought BeOS was a cool idea, but it never grew beyond a technical nicknack (install, look at it for five minutes, say, “cool”, and then go back to a real OS with real, useful programs). Why does anyone care that Java wasn’t ported to it? Isn’t it all a moot point now anyway?
I have to admit, however, I did like the BeOS boot manager. It was worth installing BeOS for that alone.
Because BeOS was an absolutely silky development environment. I’d still go back to using it if Kaffe (sp?) was finished. And the only apps of note that BeOS lacked were a graphical HTML editor, Photoshop-alike, and perhaps some nicer DTP software. To say BeOS had no apps only makes you look rather ignorant.
It’s all pointless, now. The day I heard about the Palm deal, I went back to Windows 2000. No more Amigas for me…
And to try and use Linux after living with BeOS for a year is a huge let-down. Bleh.
