The Open Source Development Labs, an industry consortium devoted to improving Linux, plans to launch an initiative on Monday to bring the open source operating system to mobile phones. OSDL’s Mobile Linux Initiative is intended to improve Linux for the small, but increasingly powerful, devices.
Although this is generally a good thing. One thing I think is lacking very badly is interoperability between Linux distro’s and current generation phones.
My SE P900 is a good phone – but there’s fat chance of getting it to work with Linux. Unfortunately, syncing with Windows is a piece of cake
I want choice, I want linux, but no-one seems to be doing any work in this area. Before anyone comes back with the “code it yourself” remark – I use linux, that doesn’t necessarily mean i’m a programmer!
se 900 does work with linux using a bluetooth dongle and enableing bluetooth service.
Just as long as my phone works as advertised.
I couldn’t less give a damn if it runs on Windows, Linux or unleaded gasoline.

Same here. I don’t even know what my Sharp TM100 runs.
Unfortunately, syncing with Windows is a piece of cake
How can this possibly be a bad thing???? Isn’t the bad thing that it doesn’t sync with Linux?
Linux users will always try to spin a pro-MS point into an anti-MS point.

For the knee-jerk morons around here, he said unfortunately because he was contrasting the great deal of work that has gone into making the phone work with Windows and the little bit of work that has been spent making the phone work with Linux. He didn’t mean it was a bad thing that the phone works with Windows. Perhaps opening your eyes and learning to read between the eyes would be in order.
Of course, Linux is Poo’s whole entire life consists of sitting on OSNews (and probably other sites) and saying bad things about Linux and Linux supporters. Go out for a change and get a life

Just like you and other linux zealot trolls say bad things about Microsoft.
And there’s a knee-jerk moron now!
Just like you and other linux zealot trolls say bad things about Microsoft.
Enlighten me, where have I said bad things about Microsoft?
