Faces for Laszlo makes use of multiple J2EE (Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition) emerging technologies for rich Internet applications, resulting in a rich user experience on the browser. Through a JSF custom tag library, developers using Faces for Laszlo can integrate OpenLaszlo components into their web application. These components can bind to server-side data that is made available as JavaScript data structures within the browser at runtime.
Could somebody tell me the origin of this name?
“Laszlo” is a hungarian name and it means Leslie.
I assume it is a funny abbreviation but I did not get any clue from the arcticle.
victor laszlo is a character from casablanca…
One of their chief developers is called Laszlo, presumably he is [related to a] Hungarian and he created the first version or something. Who knows? It’s a cool technology, that’s all I know.
“OpenLaszlo” mean nothing.
The Flash plug-in is a proprietary technology.
People should focus their efforts on W3C’c SVG technology. In today’s world we need open web standards, and Macromedia Flash is not one.
Adobe abandoned SVG with it’s acquisition of Macromedia… and Adobe is the only one that has a decent SVG plug in for IE. Corel’s plug-in doesn’t work. THere is a firefox plug in, but IE still has 90% of the market.
WHo cares if Flash is proprietary? This just means they have a big company constantly developing/updating the technology and it won’t be abandoned like SVG.
Adobe also has an svg plugin for the mozilla/firefox line. But more important is that next line of mozilla/firefox will have native support for svg. Also konqueror guys have been working on native svg support (ksvg). Oh, and opera is also in the line of native svg support browsers. With quickly developing tools such like [the cool] inkscape (or like sodipodi) you also have ways of creating svg directly.
If you think svg is dead or being abandoned, you probably live in another world, or had too much MS beverage.
“If you think svg is dead or being abandoned, you probably live in another world, or had too much MS beverage.”
what about SVG on IE? 90% of the world has this setup.
