Stefan Stuntz has released a MUI 4 Alpha version for MorphOS. Important changes include: all MUI programs react in realtime on preference changes; new and much improved background & frame requesters; new color requester with many options; new image browser and much more. Download here.
MUI is an absolute sweet toolkit! MUI 4 is as much hit for MorphOS as QT4 for KDE guys! 😀

Wow Emil! I’m writing this from the Genesi computer you mentioned. Too cool. It’s installed with Debian/Gnome and pretty much everything seem to work. Wow, wow, I must get one
I have to say I’m impressed, it’s very nice.
It’s a shame that Stefan couldn’t get a free machine from Amiga to port this to OS4.

After my sweet Amiga days I have never been able to find a GUI toolkit that made widget layout as nice and easy as MUI. I must admit have been some time since I have searched for one last.
Does anyone know if there exists such a project that works on Linux?

Yeah.
Qt, GTK, Fox, WxWindows, FTLK, to cite the most well-known.
Most of them are C++ based, although if you’re fond of doing OO programming “by hand” a la mui/boopsi, GTK is all C.
All of them are cross-platform.
They all provide layout scheme similar to MUI’s.
My personnal favorite is Qt, which provides easy and clear ways of doing things, and which makes the creation of reusable components and user-interfaces equally easy, unlike MUI where creating a custom class was kind of a pain in the ass as far as I remember.
I also find it’s signal/slot system much nicer than mui’s notification system.
The AROS project (www.aros.org) uses a MUI clone called Zune! there was once a version of it for Linux as well! google will be your friend if you hunt

MorphOS sucks it can can never be a big contender in the os world. id rather smell my ring worm rash mixed with my ear wax mixed with my cum than use morphos

A good and effective UI needs perfect fonts and clear structures. Too bad anybody tries to recreate an OS X Look these days, which IS IMHO cheesy.
Anyway, i assume it’s highly configurable, so it’s welcome.
