Two thumbs, you say? I think Nintendo may have prior art on this.
That’s both prior art by Palm, Nintendo, etc. How can Microsoft claim that they came up with that? You bet Microsoft will get sued by those companies that patented those technologies years ago.
That has ought to be the grossest UI I’ve laid eyes on. Wow, come on do something better, rearch on scalable/embedded voice recognition, embedded motion sensors, heads-up displays or one-hand-keyboards all would be much better making a input method based on the largest and slowest (but strongest) of your fingers.
they come up with the most inane things.
Well, I’ve always felt at times, that MS’s approach to things was all-thumbs. This just proves my instincts has some validity.
I couldn’t resist…
This actually looks like the production of some of the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research that some of my colleagues have been working on for a number of years. Microsoft has actually been sponsoring and/or at least hanging around people who have been doing research in mobile device usability for a while. They actually do fund a lot of research and hire many students who have worked on various projects. On an unrelated note, it is really funny to think that Microsoft Research funds more database work than Oracle does.
I guess Microsoft hasn’t just been sitting around with their thumbs up their arses.
why would they do this on a small device with a small screen? This would make it hard to see, and annoying to use IMO.
whats wrong with a task bar? you can quickly switch between programs and work with each one full screen.
Microsoft is crap. This thread needs more comments…
