Mandrakesoft have released the first release candidate of 10.2 for PPC. As with the 10.1 version, 10.2 is created by the community. There is no information on the website yet but the ISO files are available on mirrors. Also, although available since last weekend, the first release candidate of Mandrakelinux 10.2 was finally announced on Mandrakeclub.
You can download the 3 CDs for Mandrake 10.2rc1 PPC from the usual mirrors like http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/sunsite.uio.no/pub/unix/Linux/ma…
As with the 10.2beta1, the kernel has been updated to support the G5 as well as the Mac Mini. I’m not sure what else is new yet as I’m still downloading the ISOs.
Works well, as ever – keep up the good work Mandrake
Doesn’t work on my mini. Used video=ofonly on boot, but still quit shortly after.
None of the linux distributions till now have even considered supporting sound for the PowerMac G5. Is this going to happen I bought PowerMac G5 in Sept 2003 think I would use 64-bit linux on it. Anyways hope atleast one of the linux distributions finds us mac users worthy enough of using linux.
