Never thought we’d actually get the chance to see this. Kudos to groklaw.
The groklaw site seems to be out of touch…
big kudos to dburns for this, I’m surprised there haven’t been more comments…guess everyone’s trying to figure out what it means.
No doubt. Is there a lawyer in the house to translate this?
What are you going on about? I’m no lawyer, but the settlement was pretty much in plain English; no hence forth, and forth with’s in there.
that doesn’t mean the implications of it are at all obvious. See groklaw’s write-up – seemingly very simple and straightforward phrases have a huge amount of weight in interpretation. This is the general problem with legal documents, unless you know all the context it’s like seeing the top of a glacier above the waves – hey, it’s a simple little small thing!
In particular, I’d be interested to know which part of this document had SCO, at one time, threatening to reopen the case against BSD?
