Anyway, AMD definetly made the right decision about the market of 64 bit systems. Intel is lagging and will probably follow AMDs steps by producing a chip with similar capabilities under a different name.
The Mandrake installer has always hung at some point, even on different machines. In this case my Sager 4750 laptop, it hangs when going into post configuration mode. I’ve narrowed this down to a usb issue though. When I have my logitech usb optical mouse plugged in it hangs, when its unplugged it works.
I wonder how Mandrake’s 64-bit Linux will compare and perform to the 64-bit offering from Gentoo…actually wish someone would do a review on the various flavours of 64-bit Linux?!
I hope this time they don’t sell a $39 USD discovery edition with less software then the freely downloadable edition. It makes absolutely no sense to give away a better product then you’re selling, next time the discovery edition should have at least the same software as the download edition plus Flash Player, Java and Real Player.
Me too, I got a DVD-RW drive for my birthday and I had a chance install SUSE 9.1 Pro with it, not only is it better because you don’t have to swap CD’s durring the installation but if you’re adding hardware later you don’t have to insert two or three CD’s in a row, just one DVD.
Looking at the Mandrake store however it does seem that they are going to start providing their distribution on DVD, I’m on the web site for it now and they have the community edition on DVD, I just hope they continue to do so when they release the final product.
Nice, cant wait to se the preformance of theses to!
Can Intel beet AMD, or is AMD ahead at 64?

Only one on topic to this point, including me!
It turns out that the error was originally made here:

I wonder if it’s as good as ManDrake?
“Rake is actually a word i n norwegian ๐

Rake is a word in English too, it means the same thing as it does in norwegian. ๐

It’s exacty the same! The vikings must have brought the word over when they came to rape and pillage our villages! ๐
They came to rake and pillage ?
Ahh yes, That Leaf Ericson was known worldwide for his yardwork ! That explains those ancient artifacts; picket fences and yard gnomes.
Now, why doesn’t somebody say something clever about that new fangled linux distro ? hmmmm ?
It’s been pretty stable this week — it’s impressive for a first beta. I recommend installing from CD instead of via ftp, as it is a lot more reliable.
