We’ve made some updates to the Pricegrabber menu (at the lower left hand side of the site). For your convenience, we’ve updated some of the products there, and added some new gadgets. It’s a great way to compare prices, and if you use osnews.pricegrabber.com when you buy (or even just research), you support OSNews. Bookmark it! If anyone has any ideas for products or categories that should be added to the list, let us know.
Now I can justify my expensive hardware purchases with the knowledge that i contribute to OSnews.
Praise it, baby!
Does this raise the price shown to me as opposed to visiting the standard PriceGrabber (http://www.pricegrabber.com)?
Wow…how interesting! Thanks for sharing Eugenia!
Chances are osnews receives compensation on purchases using their links. This is a nice site that costs money. Don’t complain. They’re free to put whatever they want on the front page. You’re free to not buy from pricegrabber. Crybabies.
I second this
Actually it’s not Eugenia, it’s David today. Eugenia must be off on “vacation” [I use “” because this was supposed to be a “part-time” job!!!] Looks like she’s been gone for a few days now…so the “boss” is having fun putting up LOTS of posts.
Everything you see on osnews.pricegrabber.com is the same as http://www.pricegrabber.com. It’s just that we get a small fee when you search in ours. Hey, every little bit helps! And yes, Eugenia is on vacation, but she’ll be back in the saddle tonight, I think.
But when are we going to have this integrated nicely with an X server and a windowmanager in a nice standarized package that normal people can enjoy?
Normal people don’t use your geeky x-whatever.
so this is no good outside the US ?
but you also said you get paid for searches.. if that is true, let us know.
I live in the UK, but I will of course do searches now and again, if osnews gets a fee for that.
do they do out side USA shipping e.g. to UK as some hardware in USA is cheaper than the UK, i know Voltage differences and keyboard layouts i mean for things like HD’s, CPU’s etc
You’re better off with a local, cheap shop which is (still) cheap because it uses the bottom -> top flowchart (cheap -> name recognition -> expensive). When there’s something wrong with the hardware, you just go to the local shop and you’re all set. My local shops are 10-15 miles away from me and cheap since local shops in Germany are remarkaly cheaper than in the Netherlands. When i’d buy from USA, i’d have to ship (back), most likely use CC, have e-mail/telephone communication, wait-wait-wait, shipping costs, etc. Also, do not forget waranties in the EU are far better than the USA. In EU you get 2 (or 3) years of warranty on your harddisk while you only get 1 in the USA. (The 2nd hand laws in the EU are also better (for the buyer)). Now, you don’t have the advantage from leaving near the border of another country when you live in the UK, but there’s probably one of these local, cheap shops near you. I suggest to start searching or at least use a price search in the EU since that gives you additional advantages on warranty.
Would it be possible to include actual prices listed along side the links to searches? It strikes me that I’m much more likely to visit the site if the iPod Mini is listed at a Yahoo-beating 220 dollars than with no price at all. At least then it becomes an infotizement.
