Christian Limpach imported a new port into the NetBSD source tree: NetBSD/xen. Xen is is a virtual machine monitor for x86 that supports execution of multiple guest operating systems with unprecedented levels of performance and resource isolation. Xen is Open Source software. See here for more details on Xen or join the port-xen mailing list.
Will it run on Linux? That’d be pretty damn nifty.
In theory this runs *below* Linux and Windows and NetBSD etc. So you run Zen, and Zen runs all these Operating SYstems for you.
i’ve tried it before and to be honest, linux runs a lot slower (noticeably), and also the windows port will probably be unobtainable. in fact, i read through the TODO for the windows port, and it seems there are plenty of bugs left. guess that’s what you have to expect given that it was ported in the summer holidays by a couple of students.
Maybe you aren’t running the supported disk hardware. It only supports 2 SCSI adapters and PIIX4 right now. Stop dismissing other people’s work and RTFM.
by a couple of students.
What’s wrong with students?
