I have never programmed either, just read through code. Applescript seems much cleaner, at least from what I remember and the examples in the article. I had to look through some VB code today, and I find it VERY ugly. Plus your tied to Visual Studio, from what I understand. I would think Applescript would be easier for novice programmers to understand, than VB. But, this is just my “observer” opinion.

Actually AppleScript is more along the lines of Perl, but simplified in someways. Now if you’re looking for something like VisualBasic then REALbasic is what you need!

Hey, mlk. You said that the new tabbed design it has scroll bars. Which browser (exact version) are you using? This site is designed for 800×600, which means that you need to maximize the browser on that resolution.
The problem is not the browser (MSIE 5.50.422.1800, Win2K) but the fact that I have images turned off, and the ‘search’ button does not have hieght/width attr. Sorry, did not find out untill I turned imgs back on. It works fine now, but images should have hieght/width attr.
VB is literally pseudocode. If you can’t understand that… don’t give up your day job to become a programmer
solaris is way ahead of linux. it is a shame. just look at the wonderful work done in the documentation for example. this must be a desicion by dumb ass marketing people. all the result of linux. they should adopt a new slogan:

This AppleScript is exactly what an OS needs to be complete. In Linux, you generally script stuff in batch files that interact with command-line-driven components, not the GUI stuff. This AppleScript seems to be able to influence other loaded programs via their GUI components which is easy to program since that is the view of the app that the programmer gets- the GUI. Reminds me of DDE, except the syntax is so readable too! Now I want to go off and write AtheoScript 🙂
IIRC, VB is properly compiled since version 4 or 5 or something. no more p-code (maybe there is still an option somewhere). VB, either interpretted or compiled or whatever is a real language, not pseudocode. Maybe I’ve misunderstood what pseudocode really means or something?
VB doesn’t need to be in visual studio- it is across the office suite too, and IIRC over companies have licensed it for scripting their programs too
it’s just like macro’s for win3.11 or actions for photoshop imho.

I like most of them, but 2 realy sort of make it harder to read.
on the Posts, I think that it would be better if you put the author and title on the same line, with the Title first and the Author directly after.
and I think the verticle system of displaying the page selection on multipage message Boards was better since people scan down on web pages until they begin to read a paragraph.
Just my opinion, does anyone else agree?
