At last my favorite browsers best version is available for my FreeBSD box
I’ve been waiting for this for some time! Downloading as I write this!
It’s nice to see Opera for FreeBSD, I just hope it’s a decent version. I haven’t tried the latest version of Opera for Linux, but earlier versions of Linux Opera 7 were a real mess. IME it was much slower and less stable than the Windows version and had even more annoying UI bugs.
I think its the same codebase as the linux version – just recompiled for BSD. I might be wrong though.
Well it does use QT, so I’d imagine that’s all that they did.

I find that’s hard to believe, because I have been using Linux Opera 7 since beta on FreeBSD. I don’t have any of problem with the stability. Right now, I am using Linux Opera 7.11.
If I can, then look like I can delete the Linux Opera. Also, hope it’s stable as Linux Opera.
Does it have the M2 email client built in now?
Yep..
It behaves quite weird compared to Opera 7.11 for Linux running through emulation. Images are not immediately displayed while scrolling on the native build. Also, Opera does not yet allow users to register Opera 7 for FreeBSD, so you’re stuck with banner ads.

Yes

I think that if you try the 7.20 beta for Linux, you’ll notice the same behaviour. It has something to do with the new image loading routines in Opera (which supposedly make it faster and less susceptible to memory leaks).

Yes, same problem, and it’s rather annoying. I’m certain they’ll have it fixed by the final release, however.
I just downloaded it this morning, and give it a shot. Previously I was using Mozilla-Firebird, and I must say that aside from some javascript issues, it’s much better than Firebird. Very fast to load, very fast to render pages. It’s a nice browser!
Mousegestures is the greatest feature. Once you use them, it’s hard to go back.
One of the features i love most about opera is its speed but this new native 7.20B3 version of opera seems slow. When i grab the scrollbar and move up and down it is not smooth at all. It would skip around. Even filling in some forms would show that the keys typed would appear delayed. Im on a 1.2 AMD tbird with 512MB DDR ram. Opera 6.12 didnt exhibit this behavior. Can anyone else verify this?
My favourite Browser. Use it where ever I can on whatever I can if I want browsing/email capabilities.
Now if I could have 7.x for Zeta, when ever YellowTab get around to releasing it, I will be a very happy man.
Now where was I, Oh yeah, Il2 FB patch (-:
In Linux, the 7.x versions are getting really bloated and slow, compared to 6.x and 5.x. The memory wasted is almost mozilla’s.
Not to me in here.. Opera7 gains more features and it got much smaller size than Opera6. Also, it’s much faster in here with very nice M2 client.
Great mail client. The best IMHO, but I don’t know many. I love the idea of access points. I hope to see it improved soon: it systematically adds an active contact anytime I receive a newsletter and always considers said newsletter as spam. After months of use, I have yet to discover how to mark a message as spam (it lets a lot of spam go unmarked).
FreeBSD is the king of Unix world now.
Switch from linux to FreeBSD now! }:)
My reply to the person above complaining about the banner ads. I would just replace the .gif of the banner ad and then *poof* no more banner at least til you register it!
yes sure i will do it now. Just a question , eeee
what is FreeBsd?
Can you run Winex in FreeBSD? That’s my only barrier.
Yes, it’s in ports.
