Since announcement of the BlackBerry Passport in Toronto, London and Dubai, there has been over 200,000 devices sold across Amazon and Shop BlackBerry. As noted by BlackBerry CEO John Chen on the Q2 2015 earnings call, the BlackBerry Passport has moved to the number one spot on the Amazon unlocked device list and sold out through ShopBlackBerry within the first six hours after sales had gone live.
I’m pretty sure all the really, really funny people are already making very, very funny jokes about these numbers compared to the quazillion iPhones Apple sold in three nanoseconds. We’re all laughing. Really, we are.
Hope its on its way, they didnt tell me there was a shortage, but I dont trust it until its in my hand!
My dead platform seems to have quite a bit of life in it yet!
I must say I want one. Wonder how it’ll survive against the bend test… *smirk*. So far I’ve seen a Note 3 fail the bend test and I’ve heard (not seen) the Note 4 do the same.
So far only the iPhone 6 Plus has passed the bend test, so at least we know Apple incorporated one feature that the others don’t.
Who dares try it against the Passport square?
Bloomberg did the bend test:

I bought recently a Z10 for development purposes. Now it’s my primary device (coming from Galaxy Note 1). I really love the Blackberry OS, it feels very mature and integrated. I may buy a Passport one day, but not for it’s current price.
I use a Z10 as my main device (not surprising, since I work for BlackBerry; note that I don’t speak for them, and all opinions are mine) and it actually makes a pretty decent Android device, at least for apps that don’t make calls to Google Play Services.
I haven’t had the opportunity to try a Passport yet, but I’m really happy to see interest in the device!
Why don’t you use a Z30? Seems a lot more capable.
Yeah, it’s faster and the screen is larger.
Honestly, I’ve been too busy doing stuff to set up a new phone, and I really like the flip case I’ve got for the Z10… it looks like there’s a similar case for the Z30 though… so I might upgrade, there should be some Z30s available now that the Passport is released.
I’ll pass on the Passport; as interesting as it is, it’s a bit wide for even my Lurch-sized hands. I had a Note 2 and it was simply too large for me. Besides I doubt my carrier will ever offer the Passport.
I am itching to get my hands on a Z10 though. My carrier unofficially supports them, but even used devices are still in the $300 range. That’s simply too much to try out a device that I may or may not like enough to keep using.
A brand new, unlocked Z10 is $300 at shopblackberry.com, I’m shocked that used ones are the same price.
I was mistaken, it’s the Q10 that is supported (unofficially) by my carrier; there is no Z10 for me unless I change carriers, which I am reluctant to do.
Anyway, yes the used Z10s for other carriers do command a high price compared to the new unlocked ones, so if I did decide to switch to a GSM carrier I’d just get a new one and be done with it.
If a Note 2 is too big for you, I have bad news. You do not have large hands.
I have a Note 2 and can reach all parts of the screen with either thumb. I can also carry 5 pints of beer in straight glasses — without the glasses touching each other.
I think I will give me one for Xmas
That is a very impressive number for them.
I’m so sorry guys.
I truly am, I accidentally placed an order for 199,000 Blackberry Passports.
It was supposed to be just one, but my keyboard glitches. Frankly I wish there had been a check of some kind on the order page, but I take full responsibility.
Well at least I didn’t accidentally place an order for 1 million Z10’s
