OpenBSD 3.0 is now available for pre-order from the OpenBSD web site on 3 CDs, for US$40 (up $10 from recent releases).
What’s new: (1) ipf is now replaced by OpenBSD’s own firewall/NAT system; (2) OpenSSH 3.O; (3) The CDs are bootable on 6 architectures; and (4) disc 2 has a mystery audio track! Sales of CDs, T-shirts, and posters are the primary source of funding for OpenBSD development.
a mystery audio track, and some stickers? haaaaaaaaaayyy-ll yes that’s worth my $40 dollars. er, heck, since i’m on dialup, even the 70m for the intel archicecture to download isn’t bad. maybe that’s better… 2 hours downloading, or $40. heh
ouch
3 discs for US$40 is OK. Especially if you’re in my shoes, where the only option is a somewhat dicey university dial-out.
However, if I tell them to keep the stickers, will they lower the price? Hopefully the audio track is a Negativeland/John Oswald makeover of Billy G’s anti-trust testimony.
