Not sure that after Friday there will be any roadmap for MeeGo left.
What makes you think so? Oh you think MeeGo is only there to serve Nokia and if Nokia might stop using it then it has no future. Well, I think you will have to look a bit further from the hype and rumors and actually see the technology behind it. only then you will be able to see MeeGo as a truly great Free and open platform that it is and that there is no reason at all for people to stop working on it. Quite the opposite.
Being a dedicated Linux user, I personally deeply regret Nokias choice. But objectively it is probably the only sane way out for Nokia. But face it; with no major backing MeeGo will be relegated to an irrelevant niche platform for phone rooting Linux techies – no matter how “truly great” the platform is!
I have personally been waiting for all too long for a delicious MeeGo phone – and must agree MeeGo has been sitting on its proverbial arse while the world has been moving swiftly along. Now what is the most delicious, hackable Android available now?
By the way. With the diverse computing platforms used in the embedded space, the only sane future is for non-native application code. Google has realised this, while Nokia has been playing around with both ARM and x86 – dividing an already minuscule application market!

They wasted an awful lot of time with Maemo. Qt-based Meego has a huge potential, but it should reach consumers ASAP (it’s already late) and not be confined to the high-end segment.
Android already has a lot of momentum, and if confined to the high-end, Meego won’t be able to create a competitive ecosystem 🙁
I’ve been delaying the purchase of a smartphone waiting for Nokia (and for prices going down). If Nokia sells its mid-range segment to Windows Phone 7, I’ll simply jump on the Android bandwagon.
If there is no way to have a Maemo-based affordable phone in the short-term, they should just embrace Android in the interim. Commiting to Microsoft is simply suicidal.

I’m betting if next Meego release is coming in April, we shouldn’t expect Meego handsets earlier than that.
