Wonder when they’ll add NVIDIA ION (2) support – or does anybody know if it’s possible to add it from NVIDIA? I’d love to try this on my ASUS netbook…

I’ve lost interest in it. They are barking up the wrong tree, IMO. It seems to me like almost an open invitation to Microsoft to sue any OEM who brings out a Meego-based device.
Mono is not part of MeeGo spec. It’s unlikely that Mono will be in non-netbook MeeGo instances (that don’t use banshee).
It’s not a big deal. Java appears to be even riskier than Mono, so the only safe choice is native – and MeeGo is the only mobile platform where native code (Qt) is the recommended approach.
And? If this happens they will just throw out Mono as it is not essential anyway. I don’t think there is any program that is written in Mono for MeeGo, however the choice is there for developers who want to use it. MeeGo Core and UI is almost exclusively QT based, main programs are also QT based, some low level (DBus) services and libraries are GLib based (GStreamer, GeoClue).
Banshee. Banshee is the default media player.

Meego is so keen on Banshee (and therefore Mono) apparently that they are even prepared to put up with known problems with it, as stated in their release notes:

Meanwhile, SMPlayer and VLC are two capable, stable, well-known, cross-platform, actively developed media players which both feature a Qt-based UI.

Lots of opportunities to include a Qt-based media player without having to saddle their platform with Mono.
IMO, Meego has lost the plot. I’ve lost interest in it. It doesn’t seem as though it is written in my best interests.

Again: Nokia devices use a Qt based media player and don’t ship Mono/Banshee.
Is any Linux/BSD distro written in your best interest? gNewSense on MIPS? You should steer clear from Debian/Ubuntu/kubuntu/fedora as they all have mono in repos.
He’s talking about having mono in your system, by default. So being subject of Microsoft patent attacks.
He’s not talking about optionally installing mono.
Scenario: Mono becomes illegal or subject to royalties (in the same way MS is currently extorting Asus et al).
Outcome: out goes banshee, in comes another media player. Nobody but Banshee devs and fans are hurt.

Yup, call for reality check was for anti-mono brigade in general. Mono does *not* taint everything it’s aggregated with.
