A new company, 91:E computers has entered the market with Linux-based PCs — preloaded with Xandros Desktop 1.0 (review here). Xandros 1.0 comes with a thirty day installation support via e-mail plus a 250-page manual. 91:E’s computers come with a manual for setting up your desktop and a one year limited warranty. 91:E is working exclusively with Xandros. The company sounds cool, but they have _the worse_ website I have ever seen. It’s just a Flash app with minimal choices. When configuring your computer you don’t get any information on anything. Not the speed of the hard drives, Not the type of motherboard, not nothing. And I see no options but “configure” and “support.” Contact information? Telephone number? There isn’t even a disclaimer that you’re gonna get Xandros until you’re done! Rather pathetic, actually. At least it’s compatible with Opera, though. ๐
Stephen is right; their website is neat-looking, but lacking info. On the other hand, Xandros may be the best Linux distribution for Windows users to switch to, and that’s the market this is appealing to. I wish both companies well.
I will have to agree too. Nice try, but all that flash things and the non-structured web site with so little info is a pain and it does not add lots of credibility.
OT: pnghd, please email me. It would be nice if you could leave an email address when you email our team so we can reply back.
Its hard to tell if they are expensive based on the limited info, but I think that these are overpriced.
When you go to the cart, you have to pay with PayPal. Or so it seems, I have not ordered, nor will I ever order a PC with PayPal.
They just lost all credibility.
Xandros needs to get better channel partners.
Yes. I would have to agree with the above comments. It reminds me of that old Wendy’s ad…..Where’s The Beef!!!
I agree, they’re not going to be selling many computer with a website like that. LOL, where are these people coming from?
Damn… Thats a terrible site. Do they really think they are going to convience people to spend $1000 dollars with them with a site like that?
I wouldn’t send them $5, let alone $1000….
Agree with above comments. No specs no sale. Paypal? Please. Try again . . .
What kind of website is that?!?!?!?!
A newbie to Html can make a better site! They need to have a section where they talk about 91:E, Have more info about their computers…
THEN I may buy something from them, Even if they us Paypal.

I remember Harmon-Kardan thought they were really slick and had a site like that – it didn’t last long ๐
And even I can make a better site, FYI, my website is: http://home.iprimus.com.au/matgarnz
That is the one thing I can’t stand about many webdesigners. They’re always going off on tangents having flashy effects rather than stick to what a site is designed for, that is, to provide information to the reader. If it doesn’t provide information – that is – the information the visitor expects, then you might as well never had started the site in the first place.
This website is just terrible… I don’t think they’ll sell a single PC through that site…
Plus $1,000 for an AMD with GF2MX400… c’mon… you can build that PC yourself from PriceWatch.com for twice even 3 times less money… They don’t even tell you what you buy – what motherboard, HDD RPM, what type of ddr ram (266, 333)…
I can put up a better site on geocities.com and probably sell more computers than these guys!
Nice try, though ๐
Great site, Matthew! You could sell more computers than these guys on a well organized site like yours!
In an economy like this, to be starting up a company in technology is a very difficult thing to do. I give Mr. Garriott serious props, and wish him well in his venture. I will volunteer my company’s services to redesign his site and e-commerce engine. I remember when I was starting out, and I received my first break.

You better e-mail the company before they lose more Customers!
Andy, have you tested your site with Opera? None of the anchor links work here (6.05 / 7 beta).
