Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is barely out the door, and Apple has already released the first update, Mac OS X 10.6.1, which includes, among other things, the latest version of Adobe’s Flash Player. “This update is recommended for Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard users and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac.”
Wonder why they call it 10.6.1, just a few bug fixes. Bit boring!
basically a security patch *I find it a tad annoying I had to re-download flash as part of the upgrade though..
If they’re issuing a point release this quick, I think I’m gonna wait until at least 10.6.3 to upgrade.
That’s a little early from my experience to wait. 10.x.4 is usually fairly safe.
It’s amazing that the latest Leopard security update (released today) came to 93.6 MB while 10.6.1 came to about 10 % of that.

Not sure what you are getting but the update here is 90MB.
Btw. as for stability, normally I would agree with wait for .4 before switching but snow leopard has given me so far zero problems which is absolutely astounding for a .0 release. It works better for me than Leopard ever did.

That’s not surprising. Despite what had been said, Leopard has been the rockiest release ever for me and it still has problems at 10.5.8. I love when all my applications’ menus appear in the menu bar at once. It reminds me of their decision to not use a main window with a menu attached to it.
I’m glad you’re having a good experience with Snow Leopard.
Others may be having different experiences, but I too have found snow leopard to be excellent in quality. Maybe it’s because I did a clean install, but I hadn’t experience a single bug myself in 10.6.0 and haven’t in 10.6.1 either (it is more stable than 10.5.8 in my experience too). It is good that Apple is issuing the update on a timely basis and IMHO snow leopard IS ready for everyone. Don’t whine and appreciate that Apple has made a good quality release and is maintaining it well.
It’s a 9,8 MB delta update, which is nice, but I really, really hope it fixes the nasty crashes when opening/saving documents in nearly every app. So far so good.
Let us know if that really does fix your problem. I haven’t experienced any trouble like this. If the problem isn’t fixed, you might want to consider that it may not be the OS that’s fundamentally the problem but some corruption that has occurred for other reasons.
It really fixed my problems! Snow Leopard is now perfectly stable for me. It was a real crashfest before.
Would you like to share with us your problems and solutions? Thanks!
I just hope it fixes the constant Peggle Nights and Plants vs. Zombies freezing… I am working way too much because of Snow Leopard
I find it funny, in a sarcastic manner of course:
– if a vendor has vulnerabilities or bug, and wait a month or more to release a big fix, users complain:
“its not fixed fast enough”!
“1 month with a vulnerability, wtf!”
“i’m changing software vendor it sucks!”
– if a vendor has vulnerabilities or bug, and release a fix almost immediately (a week max), users complain:
“omg its too quick i’ve to redownload something!”
“omg i’m waiting 3 next updates before i apply these security fixes! updating sucks!”
my take: “yeh.. right, users sucks!”
Mac OS X fanatics often brag about uptime and complain about restarting for fixes.
Uptime is for losers.
