The buzz is swelling in anticipation of consumer-side announcements from Steve Jobs’ keynote address that will kick off the annual Macworld Expo here. Will it be the iPod phone or the iTV digital media server (name change is also expected)? Only Jobs and a select cadre of Apple execs know for sure. However, after the keynote hubbub settles and attendees wander onto the show floor, a revised sense of the Mac market may come into view. Among the booths filled with professional and consumer photo and video content creation tools and iPod gear – all expected and familiar Expo fare – will be an invasion of software and hardware solutions solidly in the small and midsize business camp.
Wonder if Apple is still going to support Power PC with the new OS?
@Sucks
They haven’t said anything about canning PowerPC support.
Just wondering.
Also wondering if they will sell the Intel version boxed and how fast it will be before someone hacks it onto a non apple intel box. LOL!
Luckily, Leopard does work with PowerPC
Nice, thank you for the info. I have a new Intel Imac but I also have a PPC Ibook, Powerbook and Mini. Got to keep them fresh! 🙂
probably more than 3/4th of the Macs out there are PowerPC.
(it’s not because you cannot buy them anymore that everyone has switched over allready)
Apple cannot drop PowerPC support without shooting in his foot.
The whole universal application stuff is great! At first I was a little mad that they went to Intel. But now I can sell people on Macs running Windows. (Even though I am not a real Windows fan) For example I sold a lady who just opened a Chucky Cheese to buy 10 Mac Mini’s for her POS system (Which runs in Windows) But she has them out on the floor in cases and they take up NO space and they are silent! Perfect for the task.
I would love it if Apple made the Apple server software better and faster. And made remote desktop lower in cost. They have good enterprise management tools etc. They just need to PUSH them.
Yes….they are
