Today, we’re announcing some important new features in Google Search to help you stay in control of your personal information, privacy and online safety.
There’s improved tools to remove results about yourself, such as those containing phone numbers and such, as well as easier ways to remove explicit content about yourself, such as photos. Of course, tools such as these merely remove the results from Google Search – they don’t actually remove them from the web.
The key point here is that Google doesn’t sell searches…. they sell data about you. And doing this is verifying the data they sell about you for them.
cb88,
That is a common misconception.
Google does not sell data. As far as I know it never has, and will probably never will (at least for these products).
The reason being, is they use the data themselves, and have a much higher value that way.
(If you are a baker, do you sell bread, or do you sell flour? For Google, data is the flour, and ad space is the bread).
