The IVI in the car, like many things these days, is just a computer. My goal was to hack the IVI to get root access and hopefully be able to run my own software on it. Of course, the first step in hacking a device like this is research.

Yeah I would have given up a lot sooner. I’ve burned myself on trying to get apps on getting my own apps on various open source platforms, much less anything that is supposed to be locked down. Good on him.
Also, I don’t hack what I can’t afford to break. I’m not trying anything with a brand new car. No way.
