WCF is a new step in distributed programming for developers using the .NET Framework. If you currently build systems using any of today’s .NET distributed technologies, it’s time to start paying attention to WCF and the future it holds. It’s only a matter of time before all .NET-targeted code related to communications will be written using WCF.
I actually just read this article a few nights ago in the print version of MSDNMag and was very impressed at what MS has coming down the pipe as far as unifying messaging in .Net (which up to this point has been a complete mess trying to get all the different payloads and transports to cooperate with each other). This will vastly simplify writing network oriented code.
At first glance it looks tedious to do, but compared to the old way of doing things like this, it’s a godsend, and also will lend itself to better language interoperability as it’s based on standards, and of course you can roll your own sinks if the provided ones don’t suit your needs.
I also suggest that .NET developers take a look at WWF (Windows Workflow Foundation) because it’s really impressive. Coupled with WCF, you end up having a very strong platform.
And according to what I see, WWF should be release for XP and 2003 as well… sweet!
Just a few hours ago these posts were @ 2 & 3 respectivly, now both have been modded down 2 points? Moderation is a total joke on OSNews…pls fix it. Neither of these posts deserved to be modded down.
