Motorola plans to enhance the reliability of its emergency services software applications by integrating them on the Microsoft platform, the companies announced Tuesday.
However, Motorola in July announced that it would expand its use of Linux beyond high-end products and into midrange items by revising most of its phones to run on Linux.
Enhance the reliability of software by integrating with the Microsoft platform? Surely you jest…
“Enhance the reliability of software by integrating with the Microsoft platform”
Sounds just as stupid as:
“Enhance your health by drinking more alcohol, smoking more cigarets and doing more drugs”.
And we all know that Windows has a lower TCO than Linux.
If you don’t trust Microsoft, don’t buy Windows-powered phones. I’ve only seen a WinMob2003 phone once, so they aren’t really popular.
Samsung and Siemens are also investing in Linux. The future is good
I guess Philly cops and firemen can now ask for a refund of their new Motorola system. If they thought it was unstable before.. wait til they get a load of this……
I sense that this has something to do with Philadelphia’s wifi plans as well.
… if Motorola is nearing their end (and this doesn’t have nothing in common with partnering with MS).
Being Motorola phone user now for 10 years (that would probably mean that I had almost all models that can be bought in EU, first I was enjoying buying better smaller phones, but after v50 and v3688 I started searching for a phone that works. now I have v600 and all I can say is “I’m dissapointed how slow it is and with the fact that broke 2 times in one year”). Last years Motorola is jumping on a gun with various partners like mad. So, either they try to salvage their bussines or they are still looking for a solution that would bring them their previous glory.
Personally, I decided that v600 is the last Motorola phone I will ever own even before they announced linux phone, that didn’t change anything and this won’t either. For now I’m stuck with v600 simply because I still haven’t found a phone that I would like, some are too big, some don’t suit my phone interpretation.
So if someone knows phone like v600 (dimensions and all features except that people actualy have good impression of that phone), but not Motorola, I would appreciate a suggestion.
I dont really get what moto’s strategy is going to be, i mean first they are investing in linux phones such as the E680(which i own, its great), E680i, A780, A760, A760i, A768 and A768 and some other upcoming ones, and then they do this. Anyone care to explain it to me?
Maybe they received a <a href=”http://www.pjprimer.com/slime.html“>call
Motorola also have a plan of using TTPCom’s AJAR (Application framework) product. This framework can be used from low feature phones and upward so that gives you the last piece of the puzzle… maybe?? Guess that motorola likes to spread its investments.
low cost – AJAR
mid – AJAR / linux
high – AJAR / windows
