read this article and while this is somewhat interesting, i have to agree.. they really do not address how this is better then rss.. they just say it is
this guy talks a lot but dosen’t say much. lol
It doesn’t mean much to the end users, but having a well-written specification is a godsend for developers. The associated Relax NG spec (while not normative) helps a lot with debugging.
As for comparisons with RSS, there’s a whole set of bullet points listing the limitations of RSS 2.x and how they were addressed in Atom 1.0.
Nice to see more technical articles on OSNews. It would have been nice to have more comparisons with RSS but still a refreshing change.
RSS 2.x can’t be modified; frozen standard. Atom can and will be.
