All of the new features introduced in iOS 9.x (plus the iPad Pro) point to Apple’s intentions for the iPad, which still sells fairly well but has experienced a steady year-over-year sales slide for every quarter since early 2014. Like the iPhone, the iPad will continue to be a touch-first platform that assumes you’re using the touchscreen as the primary method of input, but it will continue to pick up more “computer-y” features that make better use of its larger screen and more powerful internal hardware.
With that in mind, here are a few iPad-specific feature requests for iOS 10, all of which balance the iPad’s traditional strengths and the needs of people more used to “traditional” desktop OSes.
I’ll be happy if they just put a damn number row on the keyboard. PLEASE, Apple? Even Swiftkey on iOS doesn’t have this feature, last time I checked.
I bet they’re grown enough to know better than you what you need.
And you just need a new device with a revolution : a number row on the keyboard.
Or a revolution again without type input! How about that, everyone sitting on the bus screaming at their phones different commands to get it to type whatever they want. LOL!
Provided they get enough carrier coverage for Google Now/Siri/Cortana/whatever to compute the commands.

BTW the Android keyboard -and text selection- is already pretty awful and there’s room for improvements.

Seconded, especially on iPads. I hate having to switch to another keyboard layer just for entering one fscking number.
Forget about adding another row to a keyboard that already takes up too much space. Borrow an amazingly awesome, wonderful feature from Android keyboards: long-press alternative characters!
Long-press on the top-row of characters to input numbers.
Long-press on other characters to get symbols.
Long-press on other characters to get punctuation.
You very rarely ever have to switch keyboard screens on Android keyboards that support long-press.
But writing a simple rendez-vous takes age just to note the hour and the address…
Problem with that is you eventually end up in conflict with accented characters. Do I want an e with an accent mark or a number 3? A u umlaut, u grave, or… a number 7? There end up being too many long-press layers or else you have to drag to the character you want, and at that point it’s quicker to just long press the numbers key on the iOS keyboard and slide to the number or punctuation character I want. It’s one of those features that sounds like a time saver until you actually have to deal with it.
*shrug* Works great on Android – I’ve never had any issues with it. And it sure as hell beats having to press a separate key just to get the numbers to show up.
There is a nice feature on iPad and iPad mini that is called “split keyboard”.
Usualy the virtual keyboard spans over the whole width of the screen, no matter of tall aspect or widescreen. But you can tear it apart to two smaller partial keyboard on the left and right lower corners. (just google for is..)
That feature is gone on Pad pro! The fist device that feature would finally make total sense …
Someone on apple with tiny hands decided it would be to big to hold it and simultaneously write anyways.
No ist not! it would work perfectly holding it with both hands and type with your thumbs on that split keyboard …
