That’s because it doesn’t belong to you, it belongs to Apple.
That’s right. Y
The watch I’d never yours (DMCA) … Apple have graciously allowed you to rent it for a period.
Count yourself lucky.
Actually US courts have confirmed the device is yours and you can hack it to your hearts content.
Apple is just not going to do this for you.

You can’t downgrade the Apple watch, and you can’t upgrade the Android watches. Sounds like business as usual then!
You can’t downgrade Android Wear watches, either.
As for not being able to upgrade them, Thom’s article was AFAIK a little bit unfair, as Motorola did finally release the update once they fixed the performance issues.
Thom would have probably written an article about laggy performance after updates and how Motorola should’ve fixed those before releasing it, in an alternate reality…
Interesting. I had assumed it was similar to android versions that can be freely up and downgraded. As it turns out that apparently doesn’t work: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/android-wear/_DwQNZ7K…
It’s not like they support downgrading iOS devices either. They probably would block you from downgrading your Mac too, except that you always have the option of installing from USB media and not only the upgraded recovery partition.
