Joint statement to The Next Web from Microsoft and Google: “Microsoft and YouTube are working together to update the new YouTube for Windows Phone app to enable compliance with YouTube’s API terms of service, including enabling ads, in the coming weeks. Microsoft will replace the existing YouTube app in Windows Phone Store with the previous version during this time.” Good to know these children stopped acting like little pricks. Can we have full Google support in Windows 8 now, please?
Microsoft, can we have official office apps for android?
Google can implement its own office application, just like MS implement its own youtube application, then negotiate.
They are rumored to be coming to Android along side iOS.
In the meantime, Microsoft recently added Anroid Tablet support to their Office Web Apps. It works pretty well, I’ve been told.
It is amazing what a little pressure can accomplish.

No, Google is too direct a competitor with MS for this to happen. MS sees “cooperation” as a one-way street.
Now, it might be a different story if Google were to drop Google Docs and Chrome and Chromebook and …
Google isn’t stopping development for Win8 …
Its Windows PHONE 8 that is too minuscule in market share terms to mandate support.
And before somebody say:
“Google should do or at least should let MS…”
Windows PHONE 8 have 3 apps for YouTube from 3rd parties…
And MS have fully compatible app for YouTube on Xbox (so MS MUST have team of devs who can do it on their own without “joint” endeavour with Google…)
And again WinP8 users can use 3rd party YT apps….
Google does not provide a YouTube application for Windows 8 in the same vein that it doesn’t provide one for Windows Phone.
But apparently relevant enough to warrant a Cease and Desist due to some imaginary harm coming to content creators (which in fact wouldn’t be relevant if Windows Phone was indeed minuscule).
Windows Phone, even the Google sanctioned web wrapper that existed prior to all this, never showed YouTube ads for any video on the mobile web.
Which are completely broken routinely by API changes from Google which are undocumented and time consuming to fix. It also rips off content creators by not giving them ad revenue because Google’s Ad API is proprietary and closed.
Microsoft certainly knows how to write a YouTube app, they wrote the new one on their own. What they don’t have is Google’s permission to use it on Windows Phone. They have permission on the Xbox 360, it was even updated to show ads, which proves that Google has provided them with the relevant APIs for the XBox 360.
Yes they can, but they’re broken routinely and always face the threat of Google sending a C&D to them like they did Microsoft.
I use it everyday. It would be for it to be integrated properly in Messaging app and the People Hub (G+).
