This release includes support for a automatic process grouping (“the patch that does wonders” ), significant scalability improvements in the VFS, Btrfs LZO compression and read-only snapshots, support for the B.A.T.M.A.N. mesh protocol (which helps to provide network connectivity in the presence of natural disasters, military conflicts or Internet censorship), transparent Huge Page support (without using hugetblfs), support for the AMD Fusion APUs, many drivers and other changes. I would actually be happy if they copied Gnome 2.x interface for Windows. Or just reverted to Windows 2000/XP Classic ways. But please not KDE 4. Default Vista and 7 UIs are enough of an annoyance.
Gnome doesn’t even want to use the 2.x interface, why would anyone else? What does Win7’s interface have to do with the newest Linux kernel?
I guess that’s what you trolls are left with, complaining about the default look of Windows, because you can’t complain about performance or stability.
Back on topic, I wonder if I could update my squeeze install to use this kernel? and if so, will there be any benefit?

Well it looks like Gnome developers don’t want to use 2.x UI, but there is a lot of Gnome users who would prefer them to leave the UI (which is perfectly fine) alone and concentrate on incremental improvements and bug fixing.
Yes Windows, KDE, Gnome et al are indeed mostly offtopic here, but not completely, based the OP’s wording (as provocative as it was). As to me, I’m just a happy user of Squeeze-based LMDE and almost happy user of Classic-mode Windows Vista.
I think you can compile this kernel for Squeeze using the standard Debian kernel building procedures. Not sure if such new kernels ever make to backports, but if they do, it will take a long time anyway.
