ekkoBSD as a core OS offers security, stability, and flexability to your infrastructure. Feature enhancements include ekkoBSD native binaries, new fdialog features, fetch/libfetch, new applications in bin/sbin, and a new installation guide. The GUI installer (EINSTein) is still not functional in this release.
Looks like more versions are coming up.

And this is a bad thing? How many Linux distros are there?
Does it matter?
Hardly.
> How many Linux distros are there?
Not to forget the different kernel trees.
Is there only one single server image currently available? There are just two files in the d/l dir.
Theres the “Complete OS” ISO and then theres the firewall ISO.. there is also a snapshot for “over the wire” installation (the individual sets).
Hey, single servers is exactly what I like. Simple is what I like. I use Slack for this purpose. I don’t mind a new BSD distro.
Their website has no mention of this whatsoever.
It’s there. It takes time to release the ISOs, get the snapshopts uploaded and set the news on the home site

sorry, but what is the target niche of this project?
There was a previous article on OSNews and Slashdot about the goals of the project. You should be able to find the info rather quickly.
I remember it was an interview with the main devleoper “Rick”.
Hope that helps.
Ok, here is the article,

Its a good read. Hope you enjoy it.
Ok, I just cant help myself, here is a quote.
EkkoBSD Team: The full OS offers everything you would expect in a Network Operating System. You‚ll have a full suite of 3rd party apps, a full toolchain, desktop environments, and office applications. For the Single Servers, we‚ll focus on appliance-like installations. For example, the Firewall will be a small, hardened ekkoBSD OS installation with PF and a few administration utilities to maintain it locally or remotely
Just got off work and I am punchy…. Its 1:30 am here…

Can you please point out anywhere in my comment the portion where I wrote or insinuated that “this is a bad thing”? Chill out..get a life..
Choice of words lends a certain ‘tone’ to a statement. Yours seemed offensive somehow.
“Get a life.”
Heheh, high school all over again! I love it!
Hiya.
Does anyone know if ekkoBSD has any type of package managment like FreeBSD’s ports collection?
And also probably kingston should get a life, man.
