Slackware, Slax Linux Live CD's are very popular these days, especially since the inception of Knoppix. Live CD's are very useful as a plug and play Linux systems for schools who want to use Linux beside their normal operating system, but Live CD's are also useful for demo-ing Linux or to try if Linux works well on some machine. Another advantage of Live CD's is that it is more difficult to break things, after rebooting the Live CD you will have a completely fresh system.

Adding additional packages can be added by executing "installpkg -root /root/livecd/live package.tgz", replace package.tgz with the package you would like to add.

However I think that when it comes to building custom live cds Morphix modular way of working is definately the way to go. (for mere mortals like me anyway (-: )

Gentoo is a LiveCD distro as well. And the recently formed GentooGames Inc is using the Gentoo LiveCD tech for their games as well.

If you have ISO booting problems

If using "-boot-load-size 32" does not boot on your system, try "-boot-load-size 4".
