Not really. If I got it, it's about Pontius Pilate and his sentence "I wash my hands in innocence".[1]
You know, crucifixion of Jesus?

[1] Hope I translated that correctly, I only know the quote in German.

I do assume some worldly knowledge and eloquence on my readers' end.

Here's the verse:

So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of this man's blood; see to it yourselves."
(Matthew 27:24, ESV)

EDIT: pulled out a weird character.

Is there an OSnews feed without the cartoons? ;)

Or even a feed *with* the cartoon images. empty posts annoy me.

is the lack of gallantry from Bill on the naming of his foundation... "*Bill* and Melinda". I know he's the one with the money, but still ;)

Acutally, I took to be a reference from Macbeth - the husband and wife team, "Out damn spot, out I say! ...a little water will cleanse us of this deed"
