Mac OS X Apple on Friday evening seeded developers with yet another pre-release of its next-generation Leopard operating system, this time a full-blown build that appears as if it could be a candidate for release. Labeled "Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard build 9A559," the new release came just hours after the Cupertino-based company issued two minor updates to the previous full-sized build (9A527), both of which were aimed at testing the system's automated Software Update mechanism.

I must admit I completely misunderstood the title. Both parts of the title only makes sense if you already read the story.

Yeah, by "drops," Thom meant "released" rather than "omits". (Unfortunately "drop" can be used in either sense.) That confused me for a moment.

I wonder how Apple will apply this in Leopard. Has it been featured in any obvious ways in the previous builds?

I have a year-old MacBook Pro and I'm still anxious as hell! But I understand your desire to wait. That way you don't have to pay extra for it. Of course, when Saber Tooth Tiger or Alley Cat come out in 2011, you'll be paying like the rest of us. ;)

I love my Macs, but the Finder still sucks, 4 major versions into OS X.

you'll see the spinning beachball of death less often in leopards finder. that's not because apple changed the code of finder, but because the os-functions used by finder have been improved.

the interface will stay the same strange mix of spatial-finder and browser-finder.
i actually like the bastard. and there are a dozend alternative filemanagers to choose from.

Did it break when it hit the floor? I am tired of hearing how things that are being released are being "Dropped". It just sounds very pretentious.
